Gabby Petito family Boyfriend Brian Laundrie hiding from authorities not missing
NORTH PORT, Florida â€" The family of Gabby Petito, the Long Island woman who disappeared while on a cross-country trek with her boyfriend, reacted strongly to reports that he is now also missing.
Petito hasn’t been heard from since Aug. 30, while the boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, returned alone in her van to the Florida home they shared â€" without a word as to Gabby’s fate.
“All of Gabby’s family want the world to know that Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing,†the statement, issued late Friday, read from the office of attorney Richard B. Stafford.
Laundrie had remained tight-lipped about Petito’s whereabouts, even as her family demanded answers and protestors gathered outside his home.
“His family has reported that they have not seen Brian as of Tuesday,†Josh Taylor, public information officer for the North Port Police, said Friday.
Laundrie has refused to speak to cops or Gabby’s family about the missing woman’s whereabouts in the weeks since he returned, even as the Petito famiy traveled to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, where she was last seen, to help park officials, the FBI and local police search for the missing 22 year old.
The family believes Laundrie knows more more about her disappearance.
