Gabby Petitos killer added to FBI Most Wanted and Brian Laundries lawyer says may she rest in peace as body found

GABBY Petito’s case has been added to the FBI’s Most Wanted list as her fiance Brian Laundrie remains a person of interest in her death.

Laundrie’s family lawyer said only “May Gabby rest in peace” when pushed for a statement after Petito’s remains were identified and her manner of death ruled a homicide on Tuesday.

The FBI added her death to their Most Wanted â€" Seeking Information list as they hunt down details on her final days.

The agency is searching for information from people who may have seen Petito between August 27 and August 30 in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area.

The 22-year-old’s mother last heard from her on August 27 and her phone was turned off after this point, according to a search warrant for the Laundrie home.

Her remains were found near the camping area on Sunday after her family reported her missing on September 11, sparking a large-scale search.

“Ms. Petito was on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend visiting national parks in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming,” the FBI said on Tuesday.

“They were driving a white 2012 Ford Transit van with a variety of stickers on the back. The van is registered to Ms. Petito with Florida plate QFTG03.”

The FBI also wish to speak to Laundrie as they issued a stern statement on Tuesday that they would hold Petito’s killer accountable.

“The FBI’s commitment to justice is at the forefront of each and every investigation,” FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Michael Scheider said in a statement as Petito’s identification was confirmed.

“The FBI and our partners remain dedicated to ensuring anyone responsible for or complicit in Ms Petito’s death is held accountable for their actions.

“Mr Brian Laundrie has been named a person of interest,” he added.

“Anyone with information concerning Mr Laudrie’s role in this manner or his current whereabouts should contact the FBI.”

Laundrie’s lawyer issued the five-word statement on Tuesday after canceling a press conference that was due to take place earlier in the day.

Petito’s family has not yet spoken publicly since her body was identified.

The attorney for Petito’s family, Richard Stafford, told Business Insider earlier on Tuesday that the identification was confirmed.

Stafford had released a statement thanking the media and public “for giving the Petito and Schmidt family time to grieve.”

“We will be making a statement when Gabby is home,” he added.

GABBY’S LAST DAYS

The vlogger had been traveling across America since July and was last seen on August 24 leaving a Utah hotel with Brian Laundrie.

They visited national parks and tourist attractions before she went missing.

Cops found their white Ford Transit van in North Port, Florida, during the weekend of September 11 â€" when Gabby’s parents reported her disappearance.

It was parked outside Laundrie’s parents’ home, where he and Petito had lived for the past two years.

Laundrie returned to the state on September 1 and hired an attorney, but went missing after he was named a person of interest last week.

His parents called the FBI to their home on Friday to report that they had not seen Laundrie since Tuesday.

They claimed he went on a hike and did not return.

LAUNDRIE HOUSE SEARCHED

However, they reportedly drove home his car from the hiking spot two days after they last saw him and a day before they reported him missing.

The search for Laundrie at the place he reportedly went for a hike was called off on Monday morning as cops confirmed that they had no plans to conduct a major hunt of the Carlton Reserve.

Police also said they had not yet “corroborated” Laundrie’s parents’ story.

Later that day, cops searched the home of Laundrie and bundled his parents into a police van after declaring the area a “crime scene.”

The FBI announced a “search warrant” twice before they removed Chris and Roberta Laundrie from the home.

August 24 â€" Gabby is last spotted leaving a hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah.

September 1 â€" Brian returns home to Florida without Gabby.

September 11 â€" Gabby’s parents report her missing to Suffolk County police.

September 15 â€" Florida’s North Port police announce Brian is a person of interest in the case. He is not charged with any crime.

September 16 â€" Utah police release body camera footage of the police encounter with Brian and Gabby.

September 17 â€" Brian’s parents say they have not seen their son in a couple of days.

September 18 â€" Police announce they were searching Carlton Reserve in Florida for Brian. Police announce they have not found anything.

September 19 â€" Authorities in Wyoming say they found a body in Grand Teton National Park. The FBI announces the body was believed to be Gabby’s but a full forensic identification needs to be completed first to confirm.

September 20 â€" Police execute a search warrant on Laundrie’s home, seizing his silver Mustang and a hard drive that may contain “evidence relevant to proving that a felony has been committed.”

September 21 â€" Officials announce they will be conducting an autopsy on the remains found in Wyoming to confirm whether or not they belong to Gabby. Police also resumed their search for Laundrie, this time on the Venice side of Carlton Reserve.

The parents were placed in a van on their lawn.

Cops seized the silver mustang his parents drove back to their home after his disappearance and a hard drive that reportedly contains evidence on Petito’s final “odd” texts.

Police are currently investigating several “sightings” of Laundrie across the country but no trace of the 23-year-old has yet been found.
