Succession star Alan Ruck drives White House reporters in Bidens motorcade during Californiatrip

‘Succession‘ star Alan Ruck got behind the wheel of a press van in President Joe Biden‘s motorcade during his California trip Monday. 

Biden was in the Golden State to campaign for Governor Gavin Newsom’s successful bid to keep his seat in Tuesday’s recall election.

White House reporters who accompanied the president on his trip were surprised to see the actor who smashed a Ferrari in ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ behind the wheel.

Ruck played Bueller’s best friend in the 1986 film, where he drove Matthew Broderick’s character around Chicago in his dad’s classic car before it plunged into a ravine.

He also stars as media tycoon Logan Roy’s oldest son Connor Roy in the HBO mega-hit series ‘Succession.’

But on Monday the actor garnered rave reviews for his role as a chauffer.

‘Alan Ruck handled his driving of press van 1 in the Biden motorcade very capably,’ Reuters reporter Steve Holland tweeted on Tuesday along with a photo of a smiling Ruck behind the wheel.

It appears Fox producer Pat Ward was the first journalist to recognize Ruck, according to the timing of his Monday night tweet

He seems to have first been spotted late on Monday night by a Fox White House producer â€" who unwittingly told the screen star he sounded ‘just like’ Ruck.

‘Here’s one for you. The driver of our press van is actor Alan Ruck. Cameron from Ferris Bueller/Connor Roy from Succession,’ Pat Ward wrote on Twitter.

‘I said, “you sound just like the actor Alan Ruck” Looks like there’s a reason. Super nice guy, got a kick out of running all the red lights.’

Ruck told him he was asked to take on the volunteer gig.

‘He said someone asked him if he wanted to drive in a Presidential motorcade and he figured why not,’ Ward said.

Mario Parker of Bloomberg also shared a photo of Ruck on Twitter, standing outside the van and posing with a group of journalists with Parker in the center.

Biden spoke at a Newsom rally in Long Beach the night before Californians went to the polls to decide whether the Democratic governor should keep his job. 

Newsom has been criticized for his handling of the COVID pandemic and California’s destructive wild fires. 

Biden told voters on Monday that they ‘either keep Gavin Newsom as your governor or you’ll get Donald Trump.’

He was making a reference to the Republican favorite to win the seat, conservative talk radio host Larry Elder.

The president told his audience that the eyes of the country and the world were on their state.  

California’s recall election presented voters with two questions: Whether to recall the governor, and who should replace him.

If a majority of voters chose ‘yes’ in the first question, the election would have gone to the majority winner of the second question. 

Newsom won 63.9 percent of ‘no’ votes, solidifying his position, according to the California election results site.

Elder was the runaway winner of question two with 46.9 percent of the vote â€" but that doesn’t matter now that most Californians want Newsom to stay.
